Winter weather advisory in effect from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday

The National Weather Service office in Johnston has issued a winter weather advisory for the Perry area for Sunday from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m., with 2 to 4 inches of wet snow bringing slushy and slippery road conditions.

A narrow band of snow will develop and move across central Iowa after midnight and into the early morning hours Sunday, the NWS forecast. The precipitation might start as rain in some portions of southern Iowa but is expected to change to snow is expected.

Along with Dallas County, the slushy snow is forecast for Carroll, Greene, Boone, Story, Marshall, Tama, Audubon, Guthrie, Polk, Jasper, Poweshiek, Cass, Adair, Madison, Warren and Marion counties.

Along with Perry, cities in the winter weather advisory include Carroll, Jefferson, Boone, Ames, Marshalltown, Tama, Toledo, Traer, Dysart, Gladbrook, Audubon, Exira, Guthrie Center, Panora, Bayard, Casey, Waukee, Adel, Des Moines, Newton, Grinnell, Atlantic, Greenfield, Stuart, Adair, Fontanelle, Winterset, Earlham, Indianola, Norwalk, Carlisle, Pella and Knoxville.
