Payman Sheriff, 47, of Los Angeles was arrested Friday on a charge of indecent exposure.

A Los Angeles man was arrested Friday after allegedly following children and adults around a Jordan Creek Town Center retail store while playing with himself.

Payman Sheriff, 47, of 255 S. Reeves Dr., Los Angeles, was charged with indecent exposure.

The incident began about 6:45 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report from store employees of a man in the store who was “touching himself sexually,” according to court records.

The employees identified Sheriff as the person seen “on security cameras following adult and child customers in the store while touching himself for an extensive period of time for the purpose of sexual gratification,” according to court records.

Sheriff is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 25 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
