A Perry man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly willfully injuring a Perry woman.

Elvio Reyes, 50, of 523 Third St., Perry, was charged with willful injury causing bodily injury.

The incident began about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of North Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Reyes allegedly did “strike the victim with his hands, causing multiple abrasions on her neck, chest, shoulder and face,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that Reyes also allegedly “proceeded to choke her,” and he allegedly told the victim “that he was going to go into his house, grab a knife and kill her with it,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that Reyes also made threats with a knife against her brother.

Reyes was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 8 in Dallas County District Court.
