Juan Daniel Silva-Nuno, 29 of Perry was arraigned Friday on charges of intent to manufacture/deliver methamphetamine, eluding, false imprisonment and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A Perry man who allegedly led law enforcement on a half-hour, high-speed pursuit through Dallas and Boone counties last month was arraigned Friday in Dallas County District Court.

Juan Daniel Silva-Nuno, 29 of 908 Pattee St., Perry, was charged with intent to manufacture/deliver methamphetamine, eluding, false imprisonment and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Court records indicate that an officer of the Perry Police Department tried to stop Silva-Nuno’s 2000 Ford Explorer at about 10:45 p.m. April 11 in Perry, but when the officer exited the patrol vehicle in order to make contact with Silva-Nuno, Silva-Nuno put his vehicle “in drive, and began to attempt to elude” the officer “at high speeds on Highway 141.”

After a 24-minute pursuit that reached speeds of 105 mph, Silva-Nuno attempted to elude law enforcement on foot and was taken into custody without incident in southwest Boone County.

A probable-cause search of Silva-Nuno’s vehicle disclosed “multiple glass pipes used for methamphetamine, digital scales with residue, and multiple small plastic baggies consistent with narcotic sales,” according to court records.

Silva-Nuno is held without bond in the Dallas County Jail. His arraignment hearing will continue May 26 in Dallas County District Court.

Silva-Nuno has been in the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office for the southern district of Iowa since his conviction April 20 of first-offense possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine in Dallas County District Court.
