Daniel John Wiley, 45, of Van Meter was arrested Tuesday on charges of six counts of purchase/possess depiction of a minor in a sex act.

A Van Meter man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Tuesday in connection with his allegedly sending child pornography over the internet.

Daniel John Wiley, 45, of 2433 Pine Court, Van Meter, was charged with six counts of purchase/possess depiction of a minor in a sex act.

An investigation was launched by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation in November 2022 in response to information received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about “a user uploading and sending files depicting child pornography,” according to court records.

A search warrant was executed at Wiley’s Van Meter residence in February 2023. The search allegedly disclosed “over 100 images” of “child pornography of what appears to be females between 4 and 14 years of age,” according to court records.

In addition, Wiley “was interviewed and admitted to viewing and sending files of child pornography,” according to court records.

A warrant for Wiley’s arrest was ordered May 5 in Dallas County District Court and served June 5. Wiley was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a hearing June 20 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
