Waukee man arrested for allegedly assaulting wife

Prince Harris, 28, of Waukee was arrested Thursday on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and obstruction of emergency communications.

A Waukee man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Thursday in connection with a May incident in which he allegedly assaulted a Waukee woman, injuring her by dragging her out of a vehicle.

Prince Harris, 28, of 580 S.E. Windfield Dr., Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and obstruction of emergency communications.

The incident occurred May 27 in the 500 block of S.E. Windfield Drive, where Harris was involved in a verbal altercation with his wife.

When the victim “attempted to get into her car to leave,” Harris allegedly “drug her out of her vehicle,” during which action the victim “scraped her knee as well as sustained a bruised lip,” according to court records.

When the victim “attempted to call 911,” Harris allegedly “tried to take her phone and wouldn’t let her call,” according to court records.

The alleged assault was confirmed by “multiple witnesses,” according to court records.

A warrant for Harris’ arrest was ordered May 30 in Dallas County District Court and served Thursday. Harris was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 17 in Dallas County District Court.

Harris was convicted of domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air/blood in 2020 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of disorderly conduct in 2020 in Polk County District Court.
