Saturday, Sept. 23 will bring the second annual Ruck for the Troops, a 5K walk-run fundraiser for disabled veterans, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2060 in Perry.
Don Richardson of Minburn, a member of the Perry VFW and Minburn American Legion Post 99, briefed the Perry City Council on the event Tuesday night. He said the event will “help heal America’s heroes,” with the funds raised to be “used for veterans’ needs.”
Richardson said the Ruck for the Troops will begin at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park at Eighth and Bateman streets in Perry. Registration for the event is $40, and ruckers may register online or on the day of the event.
