A Dallas Center man was arrested in Perry Aug. 31 after allegedly assaulting two adults and endangering two children.

Richard Matthew Allen, 44, of 601 Linden St., Dallas Center, was charged with assault, first-offense domestic abuse assault, false imprisonment, two counts of child endangerment and attempted second-degree burglary.

The incident began about 10 p.m. Aug. 31 in the 900 block of Pattee Street in Perry, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The female victim and a male witness told the officers that Allen “showed up unannounced, screaming” and “yelling,” and allegedly “attempted to force his way through the front door” in order to “get to” the victim and make her leave the residence with him.

The victim told the officers that Allen was “unstable,” and the witness told the officers that he feared that Allen “was going to bust through the door to hurt him, her or both of them and felt scared for his life,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that she left with Allen in a vehicle “due to fearing for her safety” and the safety of witnesses. The victim’s children were seated inside the vehicle, according to court records.

Allen was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Allen was convicted of assault in 2012 in Guthrie County District Court.
