- Blaine Cox of Panora was traveling in the 21000 block of T Avenue in a farm tractor when he pulled towards the shoulder to give another vehicle more room, and the trailer he was pulling slipped into the ditch and spilled its load. No injuries were reported. Damage to the trailer was estimated at $20,000.
- Michael Chatelain, 50, of 1026 Luster Lane, Des Moines, was arrested on a warrant for criminal mischief and burglary.
Oct. 21, 2023
- Cory Hansen of Adair was attempting to elude officers of the Waukee Police Department when his vehicle struck two police patrol vehicles, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage to each police vehicle. Hansen’s vehicle then struck a poloice patrol vehicle head on near the intersection of Linden Drive and Windfield Parkway. Hansen was transported by Waukee EMS. Damage to Hansen’s vehicle was estimated at $10,000. Damage to the third police vehicle was estimated at $10,000. The Waukee Police Department is handling the local investigation and charges.
- Douglas Kayser of Ankeny was traveling in the 14000 block of Iowa Highway 141 when his vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $3,000.
- Danielle Peterson, 30, of 2516 Perry Park Ave., Perry, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of driving while suspended.
- Dennis Pierce of Adel was traveling in the 36000 block of N Avenue when vehicle was struck by a vehicle, driven by Richard Ortiz of Winterset. No injuries were reported. Damage to Pierce’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000. Ortiz left the scene and was later arrested for OWI and open container. Damage to Ortiz’s vehicle was estimated at $7,500.

- Thomas Michelson, 41, of 1903 Sugar Grove Ave., Dallas Center, was arrested on a warrant for probation violation.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
