Elsie Crosswhite, 105, of Grimes passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at the Kennybrook Village in Grimes, Iowa.
A private, family, graveside service will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery near Nevinville, Iowa.
Elsie Hoskins was born Aug. 23, 1918, to Mattie (Yarrington) and Walter Hoskins in Union County, Iowa. She had three siblings, Ralph, Wilbur and Alice.
Elsie attended local schools and graduated from Corning High School. She then attended Northwest Missouri Teachers College.
She alternated working as a teacher and returning to school, graduating in 1963.
Elsie taught in schools in Union, Adair and Guthrie counties. She enjoyed teaching first graders to read.
In 1944 she married William Crosswhite, and they had two children, Rita Gottschalk and Pat Larsen.
Elsie is survived by her two daughters, four grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
