Hundreds of mourners braved Tuesday afternoon’s bright and bitterly cold weather to pay homage to Perry High School Principal Dan Marburger, lining the route along which his remains were borne from a Des Moines hospital to a Perry funeral home.
Visitation for Marburger will be Friday, Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the family present from 2-7 p.m., at the Perry Elementary School gymnasium at 1600 Eighth St. in Perry. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of Hope at 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines.
The 28-year PHS administrator died Sunday of injuries he received Jan. 4 in a gun rampage at the high school. Marburger’s bravery during the massacre was credited with saving the lives of students, faculty and staff members.
