The Perry Police Department has investigated recent threats of violence at the Perry schools and determined they are not credible, the department said in a statement issued Sunday.

The Perry Police Department received numerous reports on Saturday, Feb. 3 from concerned parents and students who alleged that “a student had made a threat that was supposed to occur on Monday, Feb. 5,” said Perry Assistant Police Chief Jim Archer.

Another student posted a photograph on social media that was also concerning, he said.

Archer said officers with the Perry Police Department investigated both allegations thoroughly and “have deemed them not to be credible threats.”

The Perry Police Department has collaborated with the Perry Community School District Administration and kept them informed as the investigation progressed. Police officers will continue to be present in all district schools, Archer said.
