Perry man allegedly scalds Perry woman with cooked corn

Michael Eugene Diggins, 60, of Perry was arrested Sunday on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault.

A Perry man was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly burning a Perry woman with cooked corn.

Michael Eugene Diggins, 60, of 709 Williams St., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault.

The incident began about 6:45 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of William Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

An officer made contact with the victim, who told the officer she “was seated at the table
eating, when she felt something hot hit her back and neck with force,” according to court records.

The officer made contact with Diggins, who told the officer he “heated up some corn,” and “some of it to hit the victim,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “multiple small scalding marks on the back of the victim’s neck,” according to court records.

Diggins is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $200 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference April 23 in Dallas County District Court.

Diggins was convicted of disorderly conduct in 2010 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of harassment by communications in 2006 in Kossuth County District Court.
