Dawson woman arrested for allegedly assaulting Adel man

A Dawson woman was arrested Monday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with a December incident in which she allegedly struck an Adel man in the face as they traveling in a vehicle.

Amanda Andrean Abrams, 35, of 400 Dawson Ave., Dawson, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 9:45 a.m. on Dec. 28, 2023, in a vehicle traveling south of Perry en route to the Dallas County Hospital.

Deputies with the Dallas County Sheriff’s office responded and made contact with the victim, who told the deputies that Abrams allegedly “struck” the victim “in the face, causing a small cut to this right eye as well as damaging his eyeglasses,” according to court records.

A warrant for Abrams’ arrest was ordered Dec. 29 in Dallas County District Court and served May 13. Abrams was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to her release on her own recognizance. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 21 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
