Dawson woman allegedly assaults Des Moines man in Adel

A Dawson woman was arrested Thursday morning after she allegedly assaulted a Des Moines man in an Adel residence.

Jazzmyn Sue McKinley, 25, of 309 E. Third St, Dawson, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 8 a.m. Thursday in the 29400 block of Old Portland Road, where officers of the Adel Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that McKinley “grabbed the victim” by “the shirt, causing scratches on his stomach area,” according to court records.

McKinley admitted that she also “pulled on a backpack that he was wearing,” according to court records.

McKinley was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 13 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
