The DMACC Foundation raised a record $500,000 for student scholarships at this year’s CEO Golf Tournament held at DMACC alum Dennis Albaugh’s Talons Golf Course in Ankeny, with some 120 executives making up 30 golfing teams.

Top sponsors of this year’s tournament included Sheri Horner, Albaugh LLC, Prairie Meadows, Baxter Construction, Wellmark, Accumold and Karl Chevrolet.

“We’re deeply grateful to our generous sponsors, dedicated players, and tireless volunteers who made this incredible achievement possible,” said Tara Connolly, Executive Director of the of DMACC Foundation. “Raising $500,000 for scholarships is a testament to our community’s unwavering commitment to changing lives and empowering communities through education at DMACC. Scholarships create access to DMACC’s high quality education and training ultimately creating a brighter future for our students.”

Since 2007, the annual CEO fundraiser has been held at Albaugh’s private golf course on the grounds of his worldwide headquarters in Ankeny.

“We’ve raised more than $5.5 million for student scholarships since Dennis started hosting this important fundraising event for us in 2007,” said DMACC President Rob Denson. “There is clear evidence that the support this scholarship event provides for students makes a difference in their ability to stay in colleges and graduate into a better job or to further their education.”

Denson illustrated his point by noting Albaugh’s most recent $1 million donation to the new DMACC Transportation Institute as just one of numerous examples on the alumnus’ generosity.

“We’re very grateful for Dennis’ generous support not only with this important golf tournament each year, but his many philanthropic contributions he’s made across the College,” Denson said. “His impact will be felt for generations to come.”

The DMACC CEO Golf Tournament is the DMACC Foundation’s largest scholarship fundraiser.
The foundation is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2024-2025 academic year. Students have until July 15 to apply. DMACC students just need to fill out one online application, and the DMACC Foundation will then use that application to match the students with every available scholarship they are eligible to receive.
