The National Weather Service office in Johnston has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Perry area until 11 p.m. Monday.
Along with Dallas County, 64 Iowa counties are within the severe thunderstorm watch area.
Scattered large hail is likely, with isolated very large hail possible to 2.5 inches in diameter.
Damaging winds, gusting to 85 mph, are also possible along with the likelihood of a tornado or two, the NWS said.
