Skip Winey, 48, of Perry was taken to his heavenly home on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

He was born on July 13, 1976, to David Winey and Bev Bjork. Skip grew up in the Denison area and enjoyed spending a lot of his growing up years with his Grandpa and Grandma Osterlund.

He moved to Carroll in his late elementary years. During his teen years in Carroll, Skip met a great group of friends: Benton, Sean, John and Jeff.

It was during this time he also met his wife, Tiffany. Skip and Tiffany were married on July 20, 1996. Their union was blessed with five children, Caleb, Ethan, Dylan, Garrett and Isaac.

Skip was an avid collector who loved looking for the next great bargain. His collections over the years included coins, cast iron and trains.

With his boys he enjoyed camping, bike riding, singing some favorite classics and things that go boom.

Skip could be found playing card games with his family at every holiday get together and at the Okoboji Winter Games.

Skip enjoyed a good challenge of guessing old movie quotes with his brother.

As time would allow, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle through the hilly winding Iowa countryside.

Skip was a man of deep devotion to his faith and was thankful for the finished work of Christ. He loved God, loved his wife and loved his family. To say he leaves a legacy of love is an understatement. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Skip is survived by his family, including his wife, Tiffany; sons, Caleb, Ethan, Dylan, Garrett and Isaac; parents, David (Julie) Winey and Bev (Ray) Bjork; brothers, Chris and Bo (Shauntee); sisters, Tiffany (Andy) Mulligan, Kelsie (Michael) Wieseler and Nicole (Dane) Gardner.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Gerald and Joan Osterlund; father-in-law, Gary Brown; and brothers-in-law, Troy Brown and Todd Brown.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20 at 11 a.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home-Perry Chapel, with family greeting friends beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at the Violet Hill Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the First Baptist Church in Perry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future
designation. Online Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.caldwellparrish.com.
