Perry man arrested after giving cops fake names

Carlos Rene Lopez Ramirez, 27, of Perry was arrested Tuesday on charges of driving while barred, driving while revoked, interference with official acts, providing false identification information and malicious prosecution.

A Perry man was arrested Tuesday night after he allegedly misidentified himself to a law enforcement officer.

Carlos Rene Lopez Ramirez, 27, of 1212 Fifth St., Perry, was charged with driving while barred, driving while revoked, interference with official acts, providing false identification information and malicious prosecution.

The incident began about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Sixth and Lucinda streets, where an officer of the Perry Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a 2016 GMC Terrain, driven by Lopez Ramirez, after observing “the vehicle’s rear license plate not properly illuminated,” according to court records.

Lopez Ramirez allegedly provided several false names and false birth dates to law enforcement before he was accurately identified and arrested.

Lopez Ramirez is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $3,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 2 in Dallas County District Court.

Lopez Ramirez was convicted of interference with official acts in 2022 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
