Woodward man allegedly assaults wife Saturday

Rodney Lee Auxier, 70, of Woodward was arrested Saturday on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and obstruction of emergency communications.

A Woodward man was arrested Saturday for allegedly assaulting his wife in the home.

Rodney Lee Auxier, 70, of 303 N. Second St., Woodward, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and obstruction of emergency communications.

The incident began about 3 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Second Street, where officers of the Woodward Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Auxier allegedly “grabbed” the victim “by the wrist, leaving red marks and a bruise,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that Auxier allegedly “grabbed the phone from her when she attempted to call 911,” according to court records.

Auxier is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 13 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
