Redfield man arrested for allegedly assaulting wife in home

Lawrence Donald Marsh, 58, of Redfield was arrested Sunday on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and and obstruction of emergency communications. 

A Redfield man was arrested Sunday after allegedly assaulting his wife in the home.

Lawrence Donald Marsh, 58, of 819 Thomas St., Redfield, was charged was first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and and obstruction of emergency communications.

The incident began about 3 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Thomas Street, where Marsh allegedly “backhanded” the victim, “causing visible marks to her right eye and nose,” according to court records.

Marsh also allegedly “held down” the victim, “causing additional marks to her breast and left thigh,” according to court records.

The victim told Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs that she was initially unable to report the alleged assault because Marsh “took her phone,” according to court records.

March “admitted to hitting her with the back of his hand” and “admitted to taking victim’s
phone,” according to court records.

Marsh was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 9 in Dallas County District Court.

March was convicted of assault in 1998 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in 2016 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
