A West Des Moines man was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly assaulting a West Des Moines woman in the home.
Steven Foster Grant, 45, of 6855 Woodland Ave., West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and obstruction of emergency communications.
The incident began about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 6800 block of Woodland Avenue, where Grant allegedly assaulted the female victim “by tackling her in the garage” of the residence “as she was attempting to flee for safety,” according to court records.
Officers of the West Des Moines Police Department observed on the victim “at least two scratches/abrasions on her neck,” according to court records.
Grant also allegedly took the victim’s cell phone during the dispute and refused to return it.
Grant is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 23 in Dallas County District Court.
