A Nebraska man was arrested late Tuesday after allegedly assaulting a Nebraska woman in a West Des Moines motel.
Nicholas A. Ross, 29, of 20315 Blake, Dr., Gretna, Nebraska, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began shortly before midnight Tuesday in a motel room at 125 S. 68th St. in West Des Moines, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The officers made contact with the victim, who accused Ross of “grabbing the victim and pushing her to the ground,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “red marks to her back, neck and arm and carpet burns to her elbow,” according to court records.
Ross “admitted to pushing the victim off of him in self-defense, causing her to strike the door frame of the bathroom,” according to court records.
Ross was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 18 in Dallas County District Court.
