The Bock Family Foundation Inc., established in 2002 by the estates of Larry Bock and Barbara Bock, distributed $94,375.57 to 30 grant recipients Thursday afternoon at a presentation ceremony held at the Perry Public Library.
Since its founding in 2002, the Bock Family Foundation Inc. has awarded grants totaling more than $2.76 million, including grants awarded in this spring’s grant cycle. Foundation President Jon Peters and Executive Director Scott Finneseth distributed the awards to the fall 2024 recipients.
Along with Peters the board of directors includes Vice President Brent Halling, Secretary Joyce Van Kirk and directors Jean Bromert, John C. Powell, Rusty Burgett and Jon Williams.
Fall 2024 recipients were:
- Perry United Methodist Church: $4,000 toward LCD projector and new cross
- Perry Public Library: $950 for 100 Books Before Graduation program
- Perry Volunteer Fire Department: $9,399.95 for Pro Thermal Imagers
- Dallas County Hospital Foundation: $3,000 to replenish Blessing Box
- Dallas County Hospital Foundation: $3,000 towards replacement of digital sign
- Perry School UAS Club: $2,500 to purchase drones and materials to start club
- PACES: $10,000 towards before/after school program
- Perry Area Child Development Center: $6,000 for scholarships
- Everybody Wins!Iowa: $2,500 for PowerRead program at Perry Elementary School
- Perry Girls Softball Association: $1,000 towards L-Screens and softball pitching mat
- Perry Baseball Club: $1,945 for home plate mat, L-screen and pitching mound
- Perry Little League: $3,500 towards batting nets
- Perry Lutheran Home: $5,338.73 towards Meals on Wheels equipment
- New Opportunities: $2,500 for Toys for Perry project
- Friends of Hotel Pattee Inc. $3,750 towards replacing boardroom chairs
- Raccoon River Pet Rescue: $1,566.89 to install fiberglass panels in cat hallway
- Nudgers Inc.: $3,000 to update lighting and redo graphic on Big Bike
- Perry Iowa Rotary Club Foundation Inc.” $3,500 for benches for inclusive playground Wiese Park
- Pegasus Inc.: $800 for new desktop computer and battery backup
- Perry Area Emergency Food Council: $6,000 to purchase hygiene items
- Girls Scouts of Greater Iowa: $3,125 for camp and field trips for Perry Troop
- Lutheran Services in Iowa: $1,000 towards client assistance in child abuse prevention program
- Minburn American Legion Post 99: $2,500 for brass grave markers and American flag holders for grave sites
- Minburn Area Firefighters Association: $3,000 towards protective coat and pants
- City of Bouton: $1,500 towards Bouton trailhead
- Woodward Community Food Pantry: $1,000 to purchase meat
- Good Samaritan Food Pantry: $5,000 to purchase proteins and fresh produce
- Friends of Granger Public Library: $1,000 to purchase food for community refrigerator
- AHeinz57Pet Rescue and Transport Inc. $1,000 for Crisis Assistance Fund
- Linden Public Library Foundation: $1,000 towards new computer and children’s after school items
The Bock Family Foundation Inc. benefits organizations operated for religious, charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes. Projects proposed for funding must be located in Dallas County, and applicants must be a nonprofit organization or a unit of state or local government.
The Bock Family Foundation awards grants in the spring and fall. Application deadlines are March 1 and Sept. 1, respectively.
