Des Moines man threatens to kill Waukee women, her kids, parents

Jeremiah Leigh Burke, 47, of Des Moines was arrested Wednesday on a charge of first-degree harassment.

A Des Moines man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Wednesday in connection with a September incident in which he allegedly threatened to kill a Waukee woman as well as “her children and her parents,” according to court records.

Jeremiah Leigh Burke, 47, of 2337 E. 41st St., Des Moines, was charged with first-degree harassment.

According to court records, on Sept. 23 between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., Burke allegedly called the victim’s cellular telephone 308 times.

Burke allegedly left 12 voicemails on the victim’s cellular telephone, “threatening to kill her and her family” and “to cut her face off,” according to court records.

A warrant for Burke’s arrest was ordered Sept. 24 in Dallas County District Court and served Nov. 13. Burke was transported Wednesday to the Dallas County Jail from the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville, where he was held on unrelated matters.

He was convicted of harassment of a public official/employee and interference with official acts in 2000 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury in 2005 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of third-degree harassment in 2007 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of child endangerment in 2008 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of third-degree harassment in 2008 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury and second-degree harassment in 2009 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of interference with official acts in 2009 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of harassment of a public official/employee in 2010 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of concealed weapons in 2010 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of domestic abuse assault in 2010 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of second-offense domestic abuse assault in 2021 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of interference with official acts in 2021 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of interference with official acts in 2022 in Polk County District Court.
