Perry man allegedly attacks fellow Perry man in county jail

Maximino Nicanor Albino Plasencia, 23, of Perry was arrested Wednesday on a charge of assault causing bodily injury.

A Perry man imprisoned in the Dallas County Jail was charged with assault Wednesday after he allegedly split open the head of a fellow inmate from Perry.

Maximino Nicanor Albino Plasencia, 23, of 2801 First Ave., Perry, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Dallas County Jail at 28985 Thin Blue Line Lane in Adel, where Albino Plasencia allegedly assaulted the victim “by throwing a tablet at his head and splitting it open,” according to court records.

This victim was transported by Dallas County EMS to the hospital, where he received “seven staples in his head,” according to court records.

Albino Plasencia “admitted to getting mad at the victim and throwing the tablet at the victim’s head,” according to court records.

Albino Plasencia is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 26 in Dallas County District Court. He is held on a $32,000 cash or surety bond following his arrest in May on charges of second-offense domestic abuse assault, first-degree burglary, fifth-degree theft, violation of a no-contact order, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and on a Dallas County warrant for first-offense possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine.

Albino Plasencia was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault in May 2024 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
