With a winter weather advisory in effect for the Perry area until noon Saturday, the Perry Community School District has canceled its activities for Saturday, the district announced Friday night.
The home swim meet of the Perry Area Winter Swim team has been cancelled, McCreary Community Building Director Jean Down announced.
Beginning Friday night and last until midday Saturday, mixed precipitation and ice accumulations up to .2 inches are forecast over central Iowa, according to the National Weather Service.
Travel will be risky, the NWS said, with roads, bridges and overpasses slick and hazardous. Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions and should slow down and use caution while traveling.
If you venture outside, watch your first few steps on stairs, sidewalks and driveways because these surfaces might be icy and slippery, thus increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
