A Waukee man was arrested Friday night after allegedly strangling a Waukee woman in the home in the presence of their infant child.
Kourtney Shontez Hall, 35, of 480 N.W. Blackberry St., Waukee, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air/blood, child endangerment and possession of contraband in a correctional institution.
The incident began about 9:30 p.m. Friday at a residence in the 400 block of Blackberry Street, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of an assault.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Hall allegedly “used both hands to strangle” the victim and had the victim “pinned on the couch, with one hand on” the victim’s “throat and one hand covering her mouth and nose, while their infant child was next to them,” according to court records.
Hall fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. He was later apprehended while driving a 2019 Ford Edge.
Hall is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $40,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 26 in Dallas County District Court.
Hall was convicted of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in 2018 in Polk Count District Court. He was convicted of assault while participating in a felony in 2014 Polk County District Court.
