Waukee man allegedly punches Waukee woman in face Sunday

A Waukee man was arrested Sunday after allegedly punching a Waukee woman in the face.

John Saypoh, 35, of 1175 S.E. Olson Dr., Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 3:30 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the 1100 block of S.E. Olson Drive, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Saypoh allegedly “punched the victim on the left side of her face with a closed fist” in the course of a domestic dispute, according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “some swelling under her left eye,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that Saypoh allegedly “attempted to strangle her, but was stopped by their teen son,” according to court records.

Saypoh is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. he is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 9 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
