Perry man leads law enforcement in 100 mph chase Sunday

Angel Martin Ibarra, 26, of Perry was arrested Sunday on charges of eluding, four counts of interference with official acts, driving while barred, driving under suspension, reckless driving and multiple traffic violations.

A Perry man was arrested Sunday after fleeing law enforcement in a high-speed pursuit through rural Dallas and Boone counties.

Angel Martin Ibarra, 26, of Perry was charged with eluding, four counts of interference with official acts, driving while barred, operating without interlock, driving under suspension and multiple traffic violations.

The chase began about 12:15 p.m. Sunday, when an officer of the Perry Police Department observed a vehicle, driven by Ibarra, speeding in a residential area near Second and Park streets. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Ibarra drove away at high speed.

The ensuing pursuit lasted about 40 minutes and reached speeds exceeding 100 mph on gravel roadways in Dallas and Boone counties. Ibarra was at length taken into custody on 180th Street near T Avenue in Dallas County.

Assisting the Perry Police Department in the chase were the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Boone County Sheriff’s office and Iowa State Patrol, including aerial support.

Ibarra was held in the Dallas County Jail on an $8,500 cash or surety bond prior to an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

Ibarra was convicted of driving while suspended in 2015 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of driving without a license in 2017 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of interference with official acts in 2019 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of driving without a license in 2019 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of driving without a license in 2020 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of driving without a license in 2020 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of driving without a license in 2022 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of driving without a license in 20240 in Plymouth County District Court.
