The city of Perry activated its storm sirens at about 5:40 p.m. Friday during a severe thunderstorm warning that will last until 6:15 p.m.
At 5:35 p.m. severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 4 miles north of Kimballton to near Earlham, moving north at 45 mph, according to the national Weather Service offices on Johnston.
The storms are producing 70 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.
Along with Perry, cities under the severe thunderstorm warning include Guthrie Center, Arthur N Neu Airport, Yale, Coon Rapids, Lakin Slough Game Management Area, Jefferson
Municipal Airport, Ralston, Lake Panorama, Lidderdale, Ledges State Park, Dedham, Westside, Audubon County Airport, Ogden, Bagley, Gray, Minburn and the Manning Municipal Airport.
