The Perry High School Drama Department will stage their spring musical, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” at the Perry Performing Arts Center on Friday, April 4 at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 6 at 2 p.m.
The musical comedy revolves around an imaginary spelling bee set in a place called the Putnam Valley Middle School, which seems somewhat similar to Perry. The quirky students and quirkier teachers make for an amusing event, which also includes members of the audience coming on stage to try their hands at spelling.
Based on a book by Rachel Sheinkin, the music and lyrics for “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” were written by William Finn and conceived by Rebecca Feldman, with additional material by Jay Reiss.

Admission to the musical is $8 for adults and $6 for students. Tickets may be purchased online.
