A Perry woman was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Wednesday in connection with an incident Saturday night in which she allegedly assaulted a Rippey man outside a Perry tavern.
Candis Maria Cochran, 33, of 2295 Deer Ave., Perry, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness and disorderly conduct-fighting or violent behavior.
The incident occurred about 2 a.m. April 5 in the parking lot of a tavern in the 1000 block of Second Street in downtown Perry, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance.
An investigation determined that Cochran allegedly “attempted to ‘lunge’ towards” the victim in the course of a dispute, according to court records.
The officers observed a “scratch mark” on the victim’s “forehead,” and witnesses to the incident confirmed that Cochran “struck” the victim “in the area where the mark was observed,” according to court records.
Cochran “did admit to striking” the victim, according to court records.
A warrant for Cochran’s arrest was ordered April 9 in Dallas County District Court and served Thursday. Cochran is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 21 in Dallas County District Court.
