A Waukee man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Friday in connection with a Wednesday night incident in which he allegedly stabbed a Des Moines man whom he believed to be a romantic rival.
Rolando Pierre, 27, of 220 N.E. Dartmoor Dr., Waukee, was charged with willful injury causing bodily injury and going armed with intent.
The incident began shortly before midnight Wednesday at a residence in the 200 block of N.E. Dartmoor Drive, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of an assault with a weapon.
Pierre left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement officers, who made contact with the victim.
The victim told the officers that when he attempted to leave the residence, he was allegedly “blocked by a vehicle that was deliberately parked in front of his” and was operated by Pierre, according to curt records.
The victim told the officers that when he exited his vehicle, he was allegedly “actively chased on foot by” Pierre, who “brandished a ‘large’ knife” and “was actively attempting to stab him,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “a small laceration to the palm of his left hand,” according to court records.
A warrant for Pierre’s arrest was ordered Thursday in Dallas County District Court and served Friday. Pierre is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 28 in Dallas County District Court.
