Karen Jasmin Favian, 32, of Perry was arrested Sunday on charges of domestic abuse assault-impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury and interference with official acts.

A Perry woman was arrested Sunday night after allegedly assaulting another Perry woman in the home and then engaging in a 100-minute stand off with law enforcement.

Karen Jasmin Favian, 32, of 1909 First Ave., Perry, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury and interference with official acts.

The incident began about 9:45 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the 1900 block of First Avenue, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Favian allegedly “held her in a choke hold,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “markings consistent with having been restrained around the neck,” according to court records.

The officers attempted to make contact with Favian, who “proceeded to climb onto the roof” and “threatened self-harm,” according to court records.

Favian remained on the roof “for a total of 1 hour and 43 minutes” before she descended and allegedly “proceeded to physically resist being taken into custody” and “then ‘dead-weighted’ her person,” causing the officers “to carry her out of the residence,” according to court records.

Favian is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 22 in Dallas County District Court.
