A Perry woman was arrested Tuesday evening for the same thing she was arrested for last November.
Ana Guadalupe Ventura Mendoza, 33, of 1202 Paul St., Perry, was charged with first-offense OWI and child endangerment.
The incident began about 6 p.m. in the 2000 block of Second Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of erratic driving.
The officers made contact with Ventura Mendoza, who “was observed to be asleep at the wheel, holding a bottle of Modelo beer,” with “her 5-year-old son in the back seat of the vehicle,” according to court records.
A witness told the officers that Ventura Mendoza’s 2007 Toyota Camry allegedly “struck a tree, uprooting the tree” in the 2000 block of Third Street, according to court records. The vehicle was briefly “stuck on the tree but was able to get free,” leaving part of the vehicle’s bumper at the scene.
Ventura Mendoza presented with “bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, very unsure balance and had a strong odor of alcohol resonating from her person,” according to court records. “Two more empty bottles of Modelo were located in the vehicle.”
Dallas County EMS responded and examined the child, who was apparently uninjured.
Ventura Mendoza is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 27 in Dallas County District Court.
Ventura Mendoza was arrested in Perry in November on charges of first-offense OWI and child endangerment. She pleaded guilty May 8 and is scheduled for sentencing Oct. 9 in Dallas County District Court. The same child was the victim in both cases.
