An Adel man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly assaulting an Adel woman in the home.
Richard Lee Ray, 80, of 2121 Greene St., Adel, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 7 p.m. Saturday at a residence in the 2100 block of Greene Street, where officers of the Adel Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Ray allegedly “pushed her then punched her in the face,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim that “the right side of her face was swollen and her mouth was bleeding,” according to court records.
Ray is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 28 in Dallas County District Court.
Ray was convicted of lascivious acts with a child in 1999 in Madison County District Court.
