An Urbandale man was arrested early Monday after he allegedly strangled his step-father in the home.
LaRon Roy Anderson, 24, of 17136 Larkspur Lane, Urbandale, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air/blood.
The incident began about 11:45 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the 17100 block of Larkspur Lane, where officers of the Urbandale Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
Arriving officers found Anderson holding the victim “in a chokehold, with both arms wrapped around his neck,” according to court records. The parties were separated by law enforcement.
The victim told the officers that a domestic dispute turned physical, with Anderson allegedly “striking him in the face approximately two to three times” before he “transitioned into a chokehold,” according to court records.
The incident was captured on a video camera and appeared to confirm the victim’s account, according to court records.
Anderson is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 25 in Dallas County District Court.
Anderson was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness in January in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of disorderly conduct in 2020 in Polk County District Court.
