GUTHRIE CENTER, Iowa — A Guthrie Center man was arrested Thursday after allegedly committing “multiple crimes” last month against a 13-year-old female victim, the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office said in a statement released Friday.
Clinton Lester Matthias, 63, of 206 N. Ninth St., Guthrie Center, was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, third-degree sexual abuse-child victim member of same household, two counts of lascivious acts with a child and indecent contact with a child.
The Guthrie County Sheriff’s office conducted a preliminary investigation, in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, which led to the charges.
The investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s statement said.
Matthias is held in the Guthrie County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in Guthrie County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
