West Des Moines man allegedly assaults woman, endangers children

Steven Ray Schroeder Jr., 30, of West Des Moines was arrested Saturday on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and two counts of child endangerment.

A West Des Moines man was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting a West Des Moines man in the home.

Steven Ray Schroeder Jr., 30, of 1518 94th St., West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and two counts of child endangerment.

The incident began about 9 a.m. Saturday at a residence in the 1500 block of 94th Street, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

According to court records, Schroeder “was involved in a physical assault, resulting in bodily injury of another,” and the alleged assault was witnessed by two minors and two adults.

Schroeder is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 9 in Dallas County District Court.
