Perry woman allegedly assaults Perry man on Fourth of July

Ashley Nicole Paulsen, 37, of Perry was arrested Friday on charges of second-offense domestic abuse assault and third or subsequent offense OWI.

A Perry woman was arrested July 4 after allegedly assaulting a Perry man in the home.

Ashley Nicole Paulsen, 37, of 2002 W. Second St., Perry, was charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault and third or subsequent offense OWI.

The incident began about 12:45 a.m. Friday outside a residence in the 2800 block of Marengo Drive, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of  a disturbance and allegedly observed Paulsen operating a 2015 Dodge Durango.

The officers made contact with Paulsen, who presented with “bloodshot, watery eyes,” and “unstable balance” and “an odor of alcohol coming from her person,” according to court records.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that during the course of a domestic dispute, Paulsen allegedly “slammed the door on his arm multiple times,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “injuries to his right forearm, similar to skin tearing/abrasions” and “a cut on his eft bicep,” according to court records.

Paulsen was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond, He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 14 in Dallas County District Court.

Paulsen was convicted of second-offense OWI in 2016 in Dallas County District Court.  County District Court. She was convicted of third-offense OWI in 2020 in Greene County District Court.  She was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault in 2007 in Clarke County District Court.
