The JumpStart CNA Program at the DMACC Perry VanKirk Career Academy is opening new doors for adult learners by expanding its offerings to include an Adult Basic Education (ABE) component.

The ABE enhancement provides academic and language support for individuals who might  not have a high school diploma or who need help developing English language skills, in this way making the path to becoming a Certified Nurse Aide more accessible.

DMACC’s JumpStart CNA Program aims to remove barriers for adult learners by integrating foundational academic instruction with CNA training. Students receive support targeted to their educational needs while preparing for entry into one of the region’s most in-demand healthcare careers.

“This program is designed to meet students where they are,” said Integrated Education and Training Coordinator Michelle Schott. “By combining CNA training with adult education and English language support, we are helping more people build the confidence and skills they need to thrive in the healthcare field.”

In addition to academic support, the JumpStart CNA Program connects eligible participants with Workforce Training Academy (WTA) funding, which might cover the full cost of tuition, books and uniforms. These wrap-around supports are designed to help students focus on learning and success without the burden of financial barriers.

With healthcare employers urgently seeking compassionate, trained professionals, the JumpStart CNA Program offers a practical, supported path to a stable and meaningful career.

The navigating your journey portion of the course begins Aug. 11, and the rest of the course begins Sept. 2 and ends Dec. 3. Seats are limited. For more information about CNA Jumpstart, apply online, or contact Michelle Schott at 515-697-7854 or jumpstart@dmacc.edu
