The National Weather Service offices in Johnston have issued a tornado watch for the Perry area until 8 p.m. Friday.
A few tornadoes are likely, with a couple of intense tornadoes possible, the NWS said.
Along with Dallas County, the tornado watch is in effect for 20 other Iowa counties.
