A Des Moines man was arrested Wednesday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with events three weeks ago in which he allegedly assaulted a West Des Moines woman and destroyed her television.
Tavien Assan Gardner, 26, of 1127 12th St., Des Moines, was charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault and fifth-degree criminal mischief.
The incident occurred Aug. 7 about 10 a.m. at a residence in the 300 block of 88th Street in West Des Moines, where Garden allegedly “pushed” the victim “against the bathroom door jamb,” according to court records.
Officers observed on the victim “a red scrape roughly eight inches long on her right arm,” and she complained of “pain in her arm and buttock,” according to court records.
Gardner also allegedly “pulled off a wall-mounted television, throwing it on the ground” in the residence, according to court records.
A warrant for Gardner’s arrest was ordered Aug. 8 in Dallas County District Court and served Aug. 27. Gardner was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 8 in Dallas County District Court.
Gardner was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault and child endangerment in 2023 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of fifth-degree criminal mischief in 2020 in Polk County District Court.
