West Des Moines man allegedly shoots live-in girlfriend Thursday

Harris Teddyboy Kpor, 30, of West Des Moines was arrested Thursday on charges of assault while participating in a felony, willful injury causing serious injury, domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury, going armed with intent, reckless use of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and drug possession/delivery.

A West Des Moines man allegedly shot a West Des Moines woman in the home early Thursday.

Harris Teddyboy Kpor, 30, of 8602 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, was charged with assault while participating in a felony, willful injury causing serious injury, domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury, going armed with intent, reckless use of a firearm, controlled substance violation and first-offense possession of a controlled substance.

The incident began about 3:15 a.m. Thursday, when Kpor called 911 and told law enforcement “that he had just shot his live-in girlfriend” in the home, according to court records.

A search warrant was executed at the Westown parkway residence in the course of the investigation of the shooting, and “a clear crystal-like substance was located that was consistent with methamphetamine as well as numerous items of drug paraphernalia,” according to court records.

Kpor is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $20, 000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 15 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
