Camryn LeRoy Stonehocker, 18, of Boone was shot and killed by a Greene County Deputy Sheriff Saturday night after a high-speed pursuit.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) released a statement Monday on the fatal officer-involved shooting in Greene County Saturday night.

According to the DCI statement, deputies with the Greene County Sheriff’s office joined the Boone Police Department and Boone County Sheriff’s office about 10:49 p.m. Saturday in a pursuit that started in Boone County and continued into Greene County.

The pursued vehicle came to a stop near U.S. Highway 30 and T Avenue in Greene County, and the law enforcement officers “encountered 18-year-old Camryn Stonehocker of Boone,” who “exited his vehicle armed with a weapon,” according to the DCI.

Stonehocker “advanced on officers” and was shot and killed by a law enforcement officer, the DCI statement said.

The involved officers were uninjured and have been placed on “critical-incident leave” in accordance with their department policy.

The DCI statement said that once their investigation is completed, findings will be forwarded to the Greene County Attorney’s office and the office of the Iowa Attorney General for review.
