ADEL, Iowa — The Dallas County Sheriff’s office has launched the Loved Ones Stay Together (LOST) program, a proactive outreach effort aiming to identify individuals who might be at risk of becoming lost or disoriented due to medical conditions such as autism, dementia or Alzheimer’s.
Through the LOST program, families can voluntarily provide critical information that will be securely stored in the sheriff’s office dispatch software and made available to the 911 Communications Center. The information will remain confidential in accordance with Iowa Code Chapter 22.7, paragraph 18, subsections A and B, and will only be released if deemed necessary by law enforcement in the course of an active investigation.
“This program gives families peace of mind and provides our deputies with valuable information when every second counts,” said Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante. “The LOST program is another tool that helps us protect our most vulnerable residents and keep loved ones together.”
Infante also encouraged families to contact law enforcement immediately to complete a missing person report in the event a loved one goes missing.
LOST registration forms are available on the Dallas County Sheriff’s office website and mobile app. There is no cost to participate.
