Angel Moises Ortega Velasquez, 20, of Perry was arrested Saturday on charges of first-degree harassment and third-degree burglary.

A Perry man was arrested Saturday night in separate incidents, first for the alleged ongoing harassment of a Perry woman and then for allegedly burglarizing a garage in Perry.

Angel Moises Ortega Velasquez, 20, of 1703 Vine St., Perry, was charged with first-degree harassment and third-degree burglary.

The incident began about 10:45 p.m. Saturday at a residence in the 700 block of 16th Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of harassment.

The officers made contact with the victim, who shared audio recordings allegedly of Ortega Velasquez in which he was heard “to threaten harm to” the victim and her family and warned the victim to comply with his demands “or she would face consequences,” according to court records.

Ortega Velasquez was also allegedly heard in the recordings saying that “he had access to firearms and that he had bullets” that he named after the victim’s “family members, friends and the victim herself,” according to court records.

While the officers compiled the harassment report, they received a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 1200 block of 16th Street.

Ortega Velasquez was taken into custody a short distance from the site of the alleged burglary, according to court records.

Ortega Velasquez is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $15,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
