An allegedly armed Perry man was arrested Tuesday night after trying to elude officers of the Perry Police Department on foot.
Kyle Patrick Lingner, 36, of 1502 Estella St., Perry, was charged with person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons, interference with official acts-firearm, interference with official acts and public intoxication.
The incident began about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday on Iowa Highway 144 near Ann Street, where an officer of the Perry Police Department saw Lingner exit a convenience store. The officer recognized Lingner as the subject of an active arrest warrant out of Nebraska, according to court records.
The officer told Lingner to stop, but Lingner “immediately took off on a dead sprint,” according to court records.
Officers found Lingner near his residence after a 10-minute search, according to court records. One officer drew a taser and told Lingner to lie down while another officer handcuffed him.
At the rear of Lingner’s residence, officers found a loaded Ruger LC9S, with a round in the
chamber.
Lingner is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 10 in Dallas County District Court.
Linger was convicted of interference with official acts-bodily injury in 2024 in Dallas County District Court.
