WOODWARD — The Woodward-Granger football squad had three members selected to the Class 1A All-District 8 First Team, with two Hawks tabbed for the Second Team and three others named to the Honorable Mention list.
Junior tailback Tanner Vermaas was picked for the First Team as a running back after rushing for 1,129 yards on 244 carries and scoring 11 touchdowns. He was joined on the First Team by junior defensive lineman Drew Jacobson and senior defensive back Race Brant.
Senior Johnnie Morgan was selected as a defensive back for the Second Team, with Vermaas also garnering Second Team honors as a punter.
Named to the Honorable Mention list were senior Hunter Vermaas and sophomores Logan Canova and Austin Scharlau, who led the team with 61 tackles.
W-G was 4-5 overall and 2-4 in D8 play this season, snapping a run of seven consecutive postseason appearances.
